How to apply for Thailand Single Entry Tourist Visa

Are you wondering how it’s possible to live in Thailand for 3 months? It’s easy! Apply for a Thailand tourist visa!

Although you can visit Thailand visa-free for up to 30 days with a valid US Passport, if you wish to stay longer you’re gonna need a visa.

And luckily Thailand has a very inexpensive and pretty straightforward visa application process for the Single Entry Tourist Visa. (At least as of March 2022). And it’s all done online so you don’t even need to go to your local Thai Embassy.

This tourist visa allows you to live in Thailand for up to 60 days with a single entry (meaning that once you leave, your visa becomes invalid.) But, you can apply for an extension for an additional 30 days without leaving the country at the Thai Immigration Bureau in Bangkok.

And to make this process even easier for you, I’m gonna list all the required documents you’re gonna need to apply for your own tourist visa.

✅ A copy of your roundtrip flight confirmation. Or at least an arrival and departure flight if you’re not returning home right away. Make sure your departure date is within 60 days.

✅ A signed declaration form (they’ll provide the PDF to digitally sign at the moment)

✅ A photo of your passport

✅ A 2 x 2 photo of yourself (less than 6 months old)

✅ A picture of you holding your passport

✅ A picture of the passport pages with the latest international travel stamps

✅ Proof of your residency (ex. a photo of your driver’s license)

✅ Proof of accommodations during your stay in Thailand

✅ Copy of your covid 19 vaccination record card

✅ Proof of travel/health insurance during your stay in Thailand that includes covid care.

✅ Recent bank statement proving you have more than $700 USD.

❎ A copy of your SHA Plus +/AQ quarantine hotel confirmation (the number of nights you’ll need to book depends on the kind of Thailand Pass you apply for) – NOTE: This quarantine hotel confirmation is probably not necessary anymore due to recent changes in covid requirements to enter Thailand (as of May 1, 2022). But as of March 2022, when I applied for the tourist visa, this step was required.

A few extra notes:

  • You can start your application up to 90 days before your arrival in Thailand
  • It takes around 15 days to process the application
  • It costs $40 USD and I’m pretty sure it’s nonrefundable

Once you have everything you’ll need, start applying!
